Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2025
SpellsBee.net was built to be privacy-friendly from day one. You can play the daily puzzle and unlimited mode without creating an account. By default, your gameplay progress is stored locally on your own device so you can return later and continue where you left off.
What we collect (short version)
- No account and no personal profile. You can play without logging in and without sharing personal information.
- Local progress only. Your found words, session stats, theme and sound preferences are stored in your browser.
- Lightweight analytics. We may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand aggregate usage (for example, page views and basic device information). We do not build user profiles.
Local storage: what lives on your device
We store a few small items in localStorage
to make the game work smoothly:
foundWords:<id>
- the words you found for a specific puzzle.sb.meta:<id>
andsb.session:<id>
- metadata and session stats (score, pangrams, completion). Used for your local statistics.theme
- your dark/light preference.sb.sound:enabled
andsb.sound:volume
- your sound toggle and volume level.
You can remove this data anytime by clearing your browser storage for SpellsBee.net.
Analytics and error logs
To improve the site, we may use privacy-friendly analytics (such as Vercel Analytics) that provide aggregate metrics like page views, device type, and approximate region. These tools are designed to avoid using cookies and to keep data anonymous or pseudonymous. We do not use advertising trackers.
Like most websites, basic server logs may include IP addresses for a short period for security and debugging. We rotate or delete these routinely.
Your choices and controls
- Use the in-game menu to toggle sound and adjust volume.
- Toggle dark mode from the header to suit your environment.
- Clear local data at any time by clearing site data in your browser settings.
- If you email us, we will receive your email address and the content of your message solely to respond to your request.
Security
We use modern hosting and frameworks to safeguard the site. However, no online service can be entirely risk-free. Please keep your device and browser up to date.
Children's privacy
The game is suitable for a general audience and does not request personal information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child provided us information via email, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy to reflect improvements or legal requirements. Material changes will be highlighted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
